July 20, 2015 - MTC

Dear Family and Friends,

One of the funniest things happened this week. My favorite Elder, Elder Spach was giving a lesson in Chinese to an investigator. They explained Jesus dying on the cross for us. The investigator asked who killed Jesus? Elder Spach, after some struggling, was able to explain that it was the Jews.... Then the investigator proceeded to ask "why?" This is one of those moments where Mandarin is really tricky... The word for evil and the word for hungry are exactly the same but depending on what you say before it changes the meaning. Elder Spach proceeded to tell his investigator that the Jews killed Jesus because they were very hungry! I died of laughter at that one. He should have said the Jews killed Jesus because they were very evil, but oh well.

We finally get to go to the temple now. It has been in a cleaning period until last week so now we have gone twice. It is such a nice change from the routine that we have everyday. I was made music coordinator for the mandarin branch... so exciting.... I now get to assign other people to play musical numbers instead of people asking me.

This week marks halfway through the MTC! Thank goodness! The MTC is great and all but my heart is longing for Taiwan more than anything right now. I cannot wait!

I finally would like to share a message about why I am so excited to go to Taiwan. My branch president and his wife, Sister Teng, are from Taiwan. They are seriously my favorite people at the MTC, they are like my adopted Chinese parents. They are both converts and have blessed my life so much! I want to find my own Sister and Brother Teng so they can bless the lives of those around them.
I love you all,

 Sincerely Wen Zhang Lao

In Mandarin, the family name comes first so our last names are said before our first names and before the title of Elder.
Elder = Zhang Lao
Wen= My Chinese last name

I love to get mail mid week. You can get onto dearelder.com and type in a letter. It then gets printed out and delivered to me. I can't respond right away, but I love getting mail.
